Our current cooperation with Eurotrade Munich Airport showcases the value of Wirtschaftsinformatik. This year’s IoTIS seminar aims to study and improve the company’s warehousing operations. With 11,280 tons of goods moved into Munich Airport annually, mainly to supply the airport’s 40 shops, Eurotrade’s logistics are a fascinating case study. Our students will primarily analyze sensor data from the automated small-parts warehouse using machine-learning techniques. To achieve meaningful results in such a complex environment, it’s essential to combine substantial methodological and technological competences with a profound understanding of logistic-related processes and IT systems. This represents the core value proposition of Wirtschaftsinformatik: bridging the gap between business needs and technological capabilities, enabling our students to excel in environments where domain knowledge, methodological expertise, and technological competences converge – precisely where Wirtschaftsinformatik as a discipline shines.

With the excursion to Eurotrade, our seminar has kicked off, and we’re eager to see where the analyses will lead us.

A big thank you to Petra Brendorf, Sophie Homner, Fabian Lobensteiner, Benedikt Nickels, and Stefan Vogel for their excellent cooperation and welcome at their warehouse at Munich airport!
