New to the teaching portfolio: Business Analytics

We’re adding Business Analytics to our chair’s teaching portfolio at FAU WiSo. We’ve taken over the existing lecture and given it a full refresh. Kudos to Dr Sven Weinzierl, who drove the redesign and served as the main lecturer.

Organisations today collect vast amounts of data from operations, customers, markets, and digital platforms. Yet many still struggle to turn data into reliable insights, pick methods that fit the problem, and communicate results in a way decision-makers can actually use for operational, tactical, and strategic choices. Our lecture tackles exactly this question: how to turn raw data into actionable insights that improve decisions and create measurable value.

Students learn how to scope and run end-to-end analytics projects, how to select and combine descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive methods, and how to translate analytical results into clear, decision-ready messages for managers.

We started with our Wirtschaftsinformatik students. From the coming summer semester, we’ll open the lecture more broadly across FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg: Bachelor students from other WiSo programmes, as well as Bachelor students in Informatics, Business Mathematics, and beyond, are welcome to join. And as we scale the lecture, we’ll keep iterating to get everything running as intended.

If this lecture is your cup of tea, consider continuing with our Master-level Process Analytics course—a domain-focused specialisation in business process management—or working with us as a Studentische Hilfskraft. Details are available on our chair’s website.

And now, we wish all our students great success in their upcoming exam period!
