In this Hall of Fame, we highlight the exceptional researchers who have earned their doctorates with us over the past decade.
Matthias was the first employee at my chair and he designed, developed, and executed our Process Analytics lecture including an eLearning module. Furthermore, he initiated collaborations with industry partners and launched the website www.processmining-software.com contributing to the chair’s objective of fulfilling the needs of practitioners dealing with data-driven process analysis.

Sebastian initiated, designed, and held the Master’s degree lecture “Introduction to Computer Science”. He contributed to the chair’s teaching profile with his technical offerings on process mining and automation, research methods (i.e. design science research), and programming. In his research, he developed and applied declarative conformance checking in various scenarios and industries.

Building on the work of Tobias and Emanuel, Pepe continued the chair’s research strand on digital platforms and industrial service systems, extending it to cover data ecosystems and data-driven business models. His empirical work was closely tied to a collaboration with Audi AG, through which he established the automotive sector as an important area of research for the chair. He also spearheaded the open access transformation of the Journal of Service Management Research.

Willi joined the chair in 2019. He was the driving force behind both our teaching operations and our digital infrastructure. He was instrumental in modernising the digital employee experience for the entire team, expertly managing the websites for both the chair and the institute, and deploying critical task management tools, automation tools, and e-learning platforms that continue to streamline the chair’s operations today. Beyond the standard curriculum, Willi aided significantly in our executive education programs and was our resident expert for teaching process mining, effectively bridging the gap between academic theory and cutting-edge industry software.
